High Cube Containers
A high cube container is one foot taller than a standard box — 9ft 6in of exterior height instead of 8ft 6in — and that extra foot changes what fits. HR Container Service lists high cube units in 20ft, 40ft, 45ft and 53ft lengths, in one-trip, used and refurbished condition. If you have been told a standard container is too low for your racking, your pallets or your headroom, this is the category that solves it.
When the extra foot of height matters
- Stacking pallets two high, or storing IBC totes upright without tipping clearance problems
- Conversions that lose height to insulation, subfloor and ceiling lining and still need standing room
- Machinery, tall shelving units and vehicle parts that will not clear a standard door opening
- Offices and workshops where 8ft 6in exterior height leaves an uncomfortably low finished ceiling
- Refrigerated builds, where insulation panels eat into internal volume on every surface
Length choice usually follows the site. Our Grade A used 20ft high cube is the compact option where yard space is limited, while a 40ft one-trip high cube at 9ft 6in gives the largest clean-shell volume most buyers will need. Longer domestic-spec units such as the used 53ft galvanized aluminum high cube and our 45ft high cube container suit long-item storage and consolidated freight.
Note that high cube units are taller in transit as well as on site, so overhead clearance on the approach road matters. Check the delivery notes in our shipping and placement policy before scheduling, and use the condition guide to compare grades across listings.
