What to check before you buy a reefer

• Power supply. Reefer machinery generally needs a three-phase feed. Confirm what is available at the site, or budget for a generator.
• Working or non-working. A non-operating reefer still makes an excellent insulated dry store at lower cost — it simply will not hold a set point.
• Temperature range. Chiller duty and true freezer duty are different specifications. Tell us the set point you need and we will match the machine.
• Airflow. T-bar floors move air under the load. Pallets should be stacked to keep that path clear rather than sealing it off.
• Placement. Leave clearance in front of the machinery end for servicing and for the condenser to breathe.
