Container Home Office

A one-trip 20ft x 8ft container converted in our own workshops into a home or garden office. What separates it from most container offices is the glazing: rather than cutting a door and a window into the shell, we remove an entire long side and replace it with full-height double glazed sliding patio doors.

That changes how the room feels. Daylight reaches the full depth of the space instead of pooling near a single opening, and the room reads as a room rather than a shed with a window in it. The venetian blinds sit inside the sealed glazing unit, so there are no cords hanging and no fabric to clean.

The shell is properly built out, not just lined: studwork with 50 mm Dritherm Earthwool in the walls and 100 mm Dritherm loft insulation in the ceiling, boarded in 12.5 mm plasterboard and left ready to skim or finish as you prefer. Electrics are flush-fitted to suit a jointless plaster finish — three LED strip lights, four double 13 A sockets, and two 32 A isolators on the rear for air conditioning if you want it later.
